Advocating for a Greener Future
To amplify our voice on environmental issues and promote sustainable gardening practices, the Garden Club of Toronto is proud to engage in partnerships that align with our values.
One of our first such collaborations in 2025 is with Project Swallowtail.
This is an organization of enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteers in Toronto, dedicated to sharing information on pollinator habitat and helping gardeners plant native plants in private and community gardens, sidewalk medians, and balconies. We have embraced this partnership as an important new way to reach out to the Toronto community to stimulate a knowledge and love of gardening and to protect the natural environment. So far, we have collaborated on a publication on native garden design, “Native Plant Gardens Are Beautiful!” (to be posted in the fall of 2025 on the City of Toronto’s website). Project Swallowtail assisted the Club with the creation of a native garden at United for Literacy, a charitable organization in mid-town Toronto that we planted in September 2025.
